In the 16th century, 'Brandy Hole' reputedly acquired its name because smugglers sank their contraband in the area to fool the Customs Revenue vessels patrolling the river. Historians report that even tea, which was heavily taxed by the crown, found its way to Brandy Hole and helped to enrich many local families. A yacht club has been here since the 1930s (before the sea wall was built). Originally just a simple hut on the saltings, the present day club was formed in 1951, and in 1961 the present clubhouse was built.

Today, behind this traditional facade, you'll find a yacht club that has this year been transformed: a restaurant with stunning views over the river with both internal and al fresco dining areas; a VIP room, "The Commodore's Cabin", for private functions; a beauty salon with an extensive range of treatments; a relaxed bar area for meeting and socialising; a busy calendar of sailing and social events; and professional sailing, cruising and racing products and services including accredited RYA training courses. The Bar, Restaurant and Beauty Salon are open to all.

The Bar, Restaurant and Beauty salon are open to all, members and non-members. But there are significant benefits for Club members which makes membership worthwhile even for the casual or occasional visitor.

Full Membership: with a full Club membership, you'll receive the following benefits:
 A 10% discount on all advertised prices in the Restaurant and Bar and on all Beauty treatments.
 A 10% discount on Club accessories and products for sale in the Clubhouse.
 A 10% discount on our training courses in sailing, celestial navigation and VHF radio practise, all RYA approved.
 Participation in all Club sailing and cruising events and competitions.
 Reduced fee storage facility for tender and/or dinghy on site, plus slipway use.

Social Membership: social members enjoy the following benefits:

 Access to advice and guidance to maximise your enjoyment of the club facilities.

Functions are arranged by the Club throughout the year including: Laying-Up Dinner, Fitting-Out Dinner, Commodore's Night and other regular seasonal celebrations.

sailing

The main aim of the club is to promote sailing, racing and cruising.

 RYA Training: we run RYA training courses for both dinghies and power boats, and further courses in other
disciplines including e.g. navigation and VHF radio practise. See below for more information.
 Cruising in Company: a popular and ideal way for those who would like to venture further to gain confidence
and spend time with more experienced sailors. Starts in September and runs through to January.
 Dinghy racing: starts in the spring. The season runs through to the Autumn.
 Moorings: available from the Brandy Hole Yacht Station, and your Flag Officers can help advise on your needs.
 RNLI Rowing Race: this is an annual event, rowing from Brandy Hole to Battlesbridge. The race raises a substantial amount for the RNLI, a charity we've supported for many years. We're very proud to have had a lifeboat named after Brandy Hole.
 Fishing Competitions: held twice a year, usually during the months of June and October.
 Regatta: held each year where a considerable sum is raised for local charities. The regatta includes cruiser and dinghy racing, water activities, stalls, musical entertainment and lots of fun.

 Crouch Harbour Authority: harbour dues can be paid at the Bar. See below for more details.

Sundays 12am to 6pm.

Afternoon tea from 2.30pm to 4.30pm; Afternoon Tea
Dinner from 6pm to 9pm. Dinner

The bar is open throughout. (Menus vary. Please call if you
want a specific dish.)
We're closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Our Master Chef and his excellent team
look forward to welcoming you to
"Watts Cooking" at Brandy Hole. Matt is highly respected and a specialist
pastry chef. You may have already have
sampled his skills at the Mistley Thorn
or The Regatta at Aldeburgh. Matt can provide anything from a quick
club sandwich ... ... to a full four-course dinner for you and
your guests, all complemented by an
extensive wine list. We can cater for anything from a small
birthday party to a wedding reception. Our menu ranges from a traditional Sunday
roast to Oriental dishes and all ingredients
are sourced locally where possible. Enjoy a pre-meal drink in our spacious bar
overlooking the River Crouch. There are only a few tables next to the
windows.To avoid disappointment, we
advise booking in advance. Sunday lunch menu, pudding menu and
children's menu also available. Picnics and packed lunches can be made to
order with notice. Perfect for a day trip out
on the boat. The Commodore's Cabin is a fully furnished
air conditioned VIP room with its own sound
system for hire for private functions. For larger or private events marquee hire
can also be arranged. Sited close to the
Clubhouse, catering is handled onsite. Debbie is the club manager.

For total relaxation, why not spend a little time in our unisex Beauty Therapy Salon? The salon is open to members and non-members for guests to while away the stresses of modern-day living. This recently completed facility offers a variety of grooming and beauty treatments for both men and women. Experienced staff will cater to individual needs.

We offer a wide variety of treatments and packages which include:

 hand & feet treatments
 facial treatments
 waxing
 a selection of Pamper Packages

Job Descriptions.

Bartenders / Waiting Staff. We're looking for enthusiastic, positive, career minded people, with a good work ethic to be a part of our team. We like people with a passion for delivering a high standard of service who can handle a busy bar/restaurant. There are several positions available part- and full-time, and there are opportunities for progression for motivated employees. Candidates must: be able to work weekends, be flexible to meet shift patterns, be fluent in English, be eligible to work in the UK and be at least 18 years old to work the bar. Please note that driving may be necessary as there are no bus routes and accommodation isn't available.
